Organizing Partners

The Movement Infrastructure Project supports a wide range of movement projects ranging from local, grassroots groups to well-resourced national or international organizations. While we’re always ready to share the resources we are cultivating with anybody taking action consistent with our organizing principles, we know that we’re most effective when we work together with our partners to build deep relationships based on trust and invest in our movement’s capacity. And practically speaking, it’s much easier for us to support organizers who have taken the time to familiarize themselves with our resources and learn our systems. That’s why we’re investing in building relationships and supporting our Organizing Partners.

Organizing Partners are organizations that we work with frequently, whose work is deeply aligned with our organizing principles and who share our commitment to building shared movement resources. Because organizers from our Organizing Partners are generally familiar with our resources and systems we’re able to streamline our processes and support them more efficiently and at reduced costs to them. And because these organizations share our long-term commitment to building capacity for our movements, we rely on Organizing Partners to work with us to sustain and build this project.

What the Movement Infrastructure Project OFFERS Organizing Partners:

  • Reduced Rates on our Sliding Scale - Going forward the lowest tier on our sliding scale (35% of the recommended donation) will ONLY be available to Organizing Partners.

  • Streamlined Space Booking - Request to book space directly on our Space reservation form without having to get in touch with a Movement Infrastructure Project Organizer first (Space booking is still subject to availability, but you’ll save the step of tracking someone down before you can fill out the request form).

  • Printing and Stencils – Print color wheat-paste size posters (11x17 or 13x19) on our wide format printer or cut stencils, vinyl imprints, or stickers with our Cricut (Bring your own materials!).

  • Help us Shape the Project – We plan to hold meetings or forms with our Organizing Partners to create a venue for the folks we work with most closely to share their visions for the Movement Infrastructure Project.

What we ask FROM Organizing Partners:

  • Streamline Communications – Help us streamline communications with your group by identifying one or two people from your organization who can be our primary points of contact. That doesn’t mean these people need to be in the middle of every single interaction or fill out every form, but it really helps us to have somebody from your organization we can reach out to and talk with for higher level coordination.

  • Help us keep this project going – Let the folks you’re working with know you value movement infrastructure and encourage them to contribute. Share a short fundraising pitch linking to the Movement Infrastructure Project donations page on your social media channels at least twice a year.

  • Let us name-drop you! With any new project it’s important to show who is involved and who is supporting the project. By listing the names and logos of our partners on our website we can show potential partners and funders what groups are engaging with this project.

  • Get your folks familiar with our gear! – Do your best to get some people from your organization familiar with the gear available from the Movement Infrastructure Project by attending our periodic (and free!) Gear in the Streets! workshops.
